Garrard County Emergency Medical Service (EMS), also known as the Ambulance Department, provides the highest pre-hospital care to citizens in need; maintains an optimum state of readiness in order to provide effective emergency response when called upon; and works to promote and perpetuate a level of medical and health service training which best serves all residents of Garrard County.
EMS provides twenty-four hour coverage of Advanced and Basic Life Support services to the residents of Garrard County, Kentucky. All ambulance personnel are Emergency Medical Technicians or Paramedics certified by the Commonwealth of Kentucky.
EMS responds to approximately 3,000 calls emergency and non-emergency per year. Over half of of these calls are to the City of Lancaster. The service provides standby services for fires, athletic events, and community functions as needed.
Garrard County EMS is owned, operated and funded by the Garrard County Fiscal Court.

When to Call 911: Call us for medical emergencies like chest pain, trouble breathing, strokes, serious injuries, or if someone is unresponsive. Don’t wait—every second counts.
Know Your Location: When calling 911, be as specific as possible about your address or landmarks. It helps us get to you faster.
Stay Calm, Stay Safe: If you're waiting for EMS, stay calm, follow the dispatcher’s instructions, and make the area safe and visible for our crews.
We’re Highly Trained: Our EMTs and paramedics are trained in life-saving procedures, from CPR and defibrillation to trauma care and advanced airway management.
Not Just Emergencies: We also help with community education, event standby coverage, and public health awareness.
